STUDENT VOLUNTEER ARMY RESEARCH:
Sam Johnson and Jason Pemberton founded a Volunteer Army foundation after the 2010 earthquakes in September, (VAF) was developed from the student clean-up movement.
2. Why was VAF group started?
It was created to address community needs in the recovery period of time of the Christchurch earthquakes.
3. How did they help the community?
They helped by cleaning up backyards on elderly people as they couldn't do it, they invited uni students who didn't have classes because of the earthquakes to volunteer and help clean up.
4. What obstacles did they overcome?
It was a difficult challenge to find where they were most needed after the earthquakes, but did manage to find and help clean those areas.
5. How did their work in Christchurch help people in Japan?
japan-bound USAR repayed chch workers in equipment and skills to finish tasks.
Something interesting that I found out about the Volunteer Army Research...
Was that they were really helpful to the community, and it just shows the kindness in people as the people in the group helped people for nothing in return.
